WHY YOU SHOULD LOVE PEOPLE
Salvation started with love (1 John 4:9 ).
God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
Scriptural Reasons Why You Should Show Love to People
Love is obedience: Christ has instructed us to love. (John 13:34) So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.
To validate our love for God: 1 John 4:20 (NIV) – “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” If you hate a fellow believer, how can we love God, whom you cannot see?
Loving people show others the dimension of God as Love. As we imitate God, we become representatives of the Love of God. Men come to know about the love of God.
1 John 4:12 – No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is brought to full expression in us.
We’re never going to be able to prevent people from saying or doing things that hurt us. We will always have opportunities to get offended but we must never take them. Loving sometimes maybe be hard, same with the sacrifice on the Cross but it is necessary.
We must walk in love just like Christ, who loves us and has given Himself for us. We must also be willing to see our own faults, not simply those of other people. Because sometimes people seem hard to love because of the unfair standards we may have set.
Whatever the Lord commands us to do, He is going to give us the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish it—and that includes loving and being good to difficult people! God’s love flowing through us is strong enough to melt even the hardest hearts, so use kindness as a weapon to overcome the meanness in people.
When we do something difficult because we love Jesus and want to obey Him, we not only please God but we grow spiritually. So, as you go about your life, make sure you reflect the life and the love of God. Be a love being like the Father!
