HOW TO MAKE THE MOST FROM THE WORD
For every believer, making the most from God’s WORD is highly important in order to live a life according to His will. God’s communication to us is through the word, it is therefore important to know the word and act on it. It is what you do with the word that brings impact and transformation to your life. A wise man is one who takes correction and adjustment from the word he has received.
Making The Most From God’s Word (JAMES 1:17-25)
Be quick to listen – be attentive to what God is saying through His word and in the place of prayer. You need to know what God’s will is per time.
Be slow to speak – don’t be always quick to say you know or to contradict God’s word.
A believer must be slow to become angry – if you’re offended by the word or the preacher, you can’t make the most of it. Be teachable, ready to unlearn, learn and relearn.
Get rid of filth and evil in your life – clear out all of those things that represent filth in your life. Fill your mind with things that are holy and pure. Philippians 4:8 – “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Humbly accept the word – one sure way not to benefit from God is to be proud. God resists the proud. To get wisdom from God, be humble.
Do what the word says – don’t forget but do it consistently. Whatsoever God says to you from sermons, quiet time, study of the word, Do it! Stay consistent practicing the word and stay connected to the Holy Spirit.
Conduct an assessment regularly on how the word has been impactful in your life so that when the rain and wind come crashing, you will be able to stand firmly on the foundation you have built on the word.
